Here at Monroe’s Chimney Care, we offer a variety of solutions to protect the exterior of your chimney from the elements and aging, ranging from masonry waterproofings to custom chimney caps and chimney rebuilds.

A crown is a poured concrete slab on the top of your chimney that protects against the elements as well as binding those top courses of brick together. Over time concrete inevitably will crack and deteriorate. There are several options to protect against the deterioration of your crown.

  • New Poured Crown—when deterioration is extensive it is necessary to remove the existing crown and pour new concrete.

  • Custom Chimney Caps—with options for stainless steel, aluminum, or copper, we can custom fabricate a chimney cap specifically for you. This is a great way too protect your chimney’s crown and flue from the elements as well as pests.

Masonry materials are porous and tend to absorb a lot of moisture. With freeze-thaw cycles this can often cause cracking or spalling of the brick or stone and deterioration of the mortar.

  • Masonry Waterproofing—with our vapor permeable waterproofing we can seal your masonry chimney to protect against the elements while allowing any residual moisture in the masonry to evaporate. This can greatly prolong the life of your chimney.

  • Tuck-pointing—often times the elements can cause mortar to deteriorate more rapidly than brick or stone. We offer tuck-pointing services in which we grind out the deteriorated mortar and replace it with new mortar.

  • Chimney Rebuilds—in some cases the deterioration of the masonry is too far along to be repaired with tuck-pointing or waterproofing. In such instances it is necessary to take down the existing masonry and rebuild with new masonry materials.
